Team PEP to compete in the 2014 Hemmings Motor News Great Race

Team PEP is set to compete in the 2014 Hemmings Motor News Great Race as Team Maine Boyz! June 21st marks the start of the 8 day trek that will travel from Oqunquit, Maine to The Villages in Florida. The first race was held in 1983 and has continued to grow every year.

The Great Race is an antique, vintage, and collector car competitive controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. It is not a test of top speed. It is a test of a driver/navigator team’s ability to follow precise course instructions and the car’s (and team’s) ability to endure on a cross-country trip. The course instructions require the competing teams to drive at or below the posted speed limits at all times.

Team PEP will be the only team competing from Maine. The car they will be driving is a Stock 1948 Ford four door with a new V8 Flathead built by Butler McMasters. The interior has been renovated by ARS interiors. It is equipped with saw tooth vintage car rally association clock and official Great Race speedometer by Time Wise. Also installed is a 12 volt conversation, a 51 ford transmission with overdrive and 378 rear gears.

Team Maine Boyz will be representing Maine and competing to bring home a win for the Team PEP Shop. However, this race has always been about having a good time and we plan on enjoying the adventure! Follow us on Facebook for updates during the race and check out more on the event at http://www.greatrace.com.
